BHIP
The programme is free for your practice and endorsed and delivered by the Caribbean & African Health Network Network (CAHN). To be an early adopter of this programme and begin the process of making your GP practice inclusive and culturally aware, please use the button below.
The programme has been developed in response to a community consultation with Black Caribbean and African communities and healthcare professionals seeking greater insights into the Black community, in order to improve their health outcomes. Based upon this evidence, Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) commissioned the Black Health Improvement Programme (BHIP) to help redress long-standing health and wellbeing inequities which have existed for decades, and which were further exposed by COVID-19.
BHIP applies and highlights evidence gained through research into the disparities in health outcomes across a number of health and wellbeing indicators. It offers a robust tool for GP practices to improve outcomes of their patients from the Black community. We offer a quality assurance service that provides awareness of a range of issues that impact upon the engagement of Black Caribbean and African people in relation to their health and wellbeing.
We are currently offering this programme to GP practices in Greater Manchester and Enfield free of charge, and are keen to see your service develop into one that continuously helps to better the health and wellbeing experiences of Black Caribbean and African people.
